Teaching kids to be responsible stewards of natural resources is a large part of early science education. A great way to introduce the concept of environmental stewardship is with the Green Earth Discovery Library book, Growing Up Green, by Jeanne Sturm.
Growing Up Green clearly defines the concept of “green” and then provides doable, real-world ways to better take care of our planet. This book is the perfect starting point for all sorts of green activities: planting trees, recycling materials at school, saving energy, conserving water resources. Kids can begin greening their school, home, or community, with the help of this fantastic book. I’m inspired. Today, rather than start up the car and burn fossil fuels, I’m biking my daughter back and forth to her preschool. Who knows? Might just become an everyday way to commute!
Growing Up Green inspires all of us to make small changes in our daily lives in order to protect our planet and conserve resources for future generations. Take a read and then give green a try!

Happy reading,
